Attorney to Discuss Long-Range Planning at Providence UMC Mid-Week Study

Posted by: Chuck Dean on Fri, Aug 15, 2008

Providence United Methodist Church in Spanish Fort will present two programs on legal issues and long-range planning during "Mid-Week" activities on Wednesdays, Aug. 20 and 27.

Attorney Leslie T. Fields of Davis & Fields P.C. in Daphne, Ala., will discuss issues such as estate planning, wills vs. trusts, durable power of attorney, living wills and Alabama state law. Other topics include long-term care options and cost; nursing home care and associated care and costs; the probate process, and legal options during periods of diminished capacity.

The study is ideal for individuals caring for aging parents, and for persons interested in their own long-range planning.

Mid-Week is held each Wednesday and includes a family fellowship meal, children's activities and choir practice, youth "reCharge" study, adult study, and adult choir practice.

Dinner is served from 5:15-6 p.m. at the church at 9543 Stagecoach Road in Spanish Fort. Dinner is $6 per person or $20 for a family of four or more. Reservations should be made each week the Monday prior to the event by calling 929-2832 or emailing delaineseamon@bellsouth.net.

Fields will speak during the adult study from 6:05 to 7 p.m. A nursery is provided. Children's activities on Aug. 20 include "Hush, Hush Bubble Rush" with a focus on Galatians 6:9, and on Aug. 27 with the theme "Show Your Fruit" and an emphasis on Galatians 5:22-23.

The youth "reCharge" Bible study titled "Ashes" will focus on the book of Job and is under the direction of youth director Tom Dumas.

Adult choir practice begins at 7 p.m.

The Rev. Bob Sweet is pastor of Providence UMC. For more information, call the church office at 626-2510 or visit the website at www.providencemethodist.org.
