SPANISH FORT,  Ala. – Motivational speaker and Christian author Drexel Gilbert will lead a 12-week study for women during "Wow! Women On the Word," a new Sunday School class at Providence United Methodist Church.

The study, written by PUMC member and former television anchorwoman Gilbert, is titled "Who Do You Think You Are? What God Says about Your Christian Identity, Image and Influence."

"This course provides practical, scripture-based truths that address the daily issues and challenges that are unique to women," Gilbert said.

There will be an organizational "get to know you" meeting of the WOW! Sunday School class beginning at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15. Lessons begin Sunday, Feb. 22. The new location for Providence United Methodist Church is 32200 Jimmy Faulkner Dr., just northeast of Spanish Fort High School. Sunday School for all ages begins at 9 a.m. and worship starts at 10 a.m. A nursery is available.

The Rev. Bob Sweet is pastor of Providence UMC, which has been designated "A Church for All God's Children" in recognition of meeting certain requirements to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children of all ages.

Gilbert said the series will include lessons such as "Big Girls Do Cry" about dealing with disappointment in a Godly manner; "Who, Me?" focusing on how God tells us to handle our responsibilities; "Worry Wart" concerning surrendering worries to the Lord; and "When You Wish Upon a Star" about turning your dreams into God's reality, among other topics.

Gilbert is well-known to the community as a former reporter and anchor for television stations in the Mobile-Pensacola market. She has embarked on a new venture as a motivational speaker and image consultant and has developed a series of "Inspired Life" seminars for people in all walks of life.

In addition to her work with individuals and corporations, Gilbert has developed a series of faith-based speeches and workshops. Rooted in scripture, her inspiring messages are generously sprinkled with humor and practical advice for living a better life and becoming a better example.
