Somebody Call 911' Topic of Providence UMC Study

SPANISH FORT, Ala. – When to call 911 and what to do until help arrives during an emergency are just a few of the topics to be discussed during the "Mid-Week" study at Providence United Methodist Church on Wednesdays, Oct. 15 and 22.

Tim and Lyndal Curry, paramedics and instructors at the University of South Alabama, will lead the study titled "Help! Somebody Call 911!" The community is invited.

Mid-Week is held each Wednesday and includes a family fellowship meal, children's activities and choir practice, youth "reCharge" study, adult study, and adult choir practice.

Dinner is served from 5:15-6 p.m. at the current worship center at 9543 Stagecoach Road in Spanish Fort. Dinner is $6 per person or $20 for a family of four or more. Reservations should be made each week the Monday prior to the event by calling 929-2832 or emailing delaineseamon@bellsouth.net.

The Currys will speak during the adult study from 6:05 to 7 p.m. A nursery is provided. Adult choir practice follows at 7 p.m.

Among the topics to be discussed are when to drive yourself to the emergency room and when to call for emergency help, being prepared for the arrival of paramedics, what to do if someone faints or has a seizure during worship, recognizing signs and symptoms of a stroke and what to do about it, and many other topics.

The Currys are members of Providence UMC, a growing congregation which is building a new sanctuary on Hwy. 181 near Spanish Fort High School. The Rev. Bob Sweet is pastor.

For more information about Mid-Week or other ministries, call the church office at 626-2510 or visit the website at www.providencemethodist.org.
