Rev. David Hendrix has served nine years as a pastor in the Alabama-West Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church. Before to being appointed to Providence, he served three years as an Associate Pastor at First United Methodist Church in Dothan, Alabama and six years as pastor of Beulah United Methodist Church in Lee County, Alabama. Prior to entering the pastoral ministry, David was an active layperson while serving as Planning Director for the City of Dothan, Alabama for 27 years. He holds a B.A. degree in History and a B.S degree in Planning and Community Development from Columbus State University and has completed the Local Pastor Course of Study. He has served on the District Committee on Ministry and the Bishop’s Task Force on the Work of the Districts. He enjoys tennis, hiking, and exploring historical sites. David’s wife Debbie is a retired elementary school teacher and active lay person, having worked with children and youth, sung in choir, been part of numerous mission trips, and co-taught several Disciple courses. Debbie and David have two daughters: Heather, who teaches first grade in Dothan; and Jenni, who is pastor of Spring Hill Avenue United Methodist church in Mobile, Alabama.
